As North America’s most vibrant, cosmopolitan metropolises, the festival is THE place to glean industry know-how, see world-class films, and network with the best of the world’s filmmakers.

We invite you to partner with us in supporting Africa’s Film Industry at TIFF 2023. The Africa Hub comprises a series of carefully curated programs which is designed to drive business to and shine a spotlight on, Africa and its talented filmmakers.

For 2023, the Africa Hub at TIFF, in partnership with CCAfrica, will provide:

  • Market Screening and Content Showcase
  • Focus on Africa Pitch – curated producers’ pitching session which explores co-productions and joint ventures

According to the UNESCO report “The African Film Industry Trends, Challenges and Opportunities for Growth, 2021”, states that the film and audiovisual industry in Africa has the potential to create over 20 million jobs and generate US$20 billion in revenues per year for the African economies. This is largely due to the widespread use of new technologies, the affordability of digital film equipment, and the rise of online platforms which are enabling a new generation of African filmmakers to emerge.

CCAfrica is thrilled to join TIFF in highlighting Africa’s presence at this major film festival, which reflects our mandate to promote Trade and Economic Development between Canada and the continent of Africa. The goal of CCAfrica’s Creative Entertainment Industries department is to foster co-productions and joint ventures, promote capacity building, and generate infrastructure growth between Canadian and African businesses.

As Canada’s premier home of cinema, TIFF offers screenings, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops, events, professional development, and opportunities to meet, hear and learn from filmmakers from Canada and around the world.
