SUMMARY:Opportunities in the Education and Skills Training Sector in Africa
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]REGISTER NOW![vc_column_text]Opportunities in the Education and Skills Training Sector in Africa \nWHEN: Tuesday\, October 29\, 2019 | 9 AM – 12 Noon \nWHERE: Edmonton Federal Building – MOUNTBATTEN ROOM\n9820 – 107 Street\, Edmonton\, Alberta\, T5K 1E7 \nA Roundtable Event Hosted by the Canadian Council on Africa and the Government of Alberta \nThe Canadian Council on Africa\, the Alberta International Development Office\, and Alberta Advanced Education are pleased to invite you to participate in a Roundtable Events on Opportunities in the Education and Skills Training Sector in Africa on Tuesday October 29th in Edmonton. \nCanadian Universities and Colleges have been leaders in the area of providing training and educational opportunities for Africans over many decades. Such opportunities originally focused largely on African students coming to Canada to study for any numbers of years and then (hopefully) returning to their own county to offer their knowledge and skills in their home environments. \nIn recent years\, it has become a more common practice to offer training and educational opportunities directly in specific countries. This approach recognizes the crucial importance of ensuring that the educational and training programs closely reflect the current economic and industrial needs of the emerging African economies. There is a growing emphasis by African political\, public and private sector leaders to develop an indigenous African labour force that satisfies current labour needs as well as encourages new and expansive initiatives in all relevant sectors. \nThis roundtable seeks to bring together representatives from invited African Embassies\, Alberta educational institutions\, the private sector and government to share and discuss: \n\nRecent experiences / initiatives in providing training opportunities in Africa;\nCommon challenges faced by Canadian institutions in identifying and implementing training opportunities;\nThe current needs for education and specially skill training in Africa as identified by the African representatives;\nHow the Government of Alberta can assist in the growth and enhancement of providing employment education and skills training;\nIf Alberta institutions can collaborate on potential opportunities to build capacity in delivering successful education and training tin response to needed skill development.\n\nFor more information\, please contact: \nFrank Kense: Regional Vice President\, Canadian Council on Africa\, +1-780-915-1110\, frank.kense@ccafrica.ca \nGrant Winton: Director\, Alberta International Development Office\, +1-780-644-2403\, grant.winton@gov.ab.ca[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row] \n
