This year is special for the Canadian presence at Mining Indaba as we celebrate the Canadian Pavilion anchoring the event for 15 years. Additionally\, the Canadian government is further branding Canada’s excellence in the extractive industry as it launched its new strategy to support the Canadian extractive industry abroad. \nThe Canadian Council on Africa and the government of Canada invite you to join once again the Canada Pavilion at Investing in African Mining Indaba 2015 in Cape Town\, South Africa. \nFor two decades\, the annual Mining Indaba has served as the pathway for foreign investments into Africa’s mining value chain – opportunities ranging from small diamond deposits to mega coal projects. Mining Indaba has become the platform of choice for governments\, mining companies\, investors and analysts to break market sensitive information. By having all questions directed to the panel submitted anonymously\, the format of the forum allows for lively and interactive discussions. \n  \n  \nMAC Panel Discussion: Lessons Learned form Canadian leadership in responsible mining practices \nMonday February 9th | 10:00-12:00 \n  \nOn Monday\, February 9th 2015\, as part of the Canadian delegation program\, the Mining Association of Canada will be hosting a panel discussion with leaders in responsible mining practices in the Canadian mining industry. Pierre Gratton\, President and CEO of the Mining Association of Canada will host and moderate the discussion with the panelists listed below: \n\nPatricia Malikail\, Director General for the African Bureau for the Department of Foreign Affairs\, Trade and Development\, of the Government of Canada\nJanina Gawler\, Global Practice Leader\, Communities & Social Performance of Rio Tinto\nMatt Pascal\, Director of Operations\, First Quantum Minerals Ltd.\nGreg Goldhawk\, Head of Office at the Canadian Trade Office\, Canadian High Commission\, Johannesburg\, South Africa\n\nEach of the three companies will share experiences and lessons learned in specific areas of corporate responsibility that they have demonstrated leadership in\, including investing in infrastructure\, large scale development planning\, population influx management and social investing.
